Today’s Information, Tomorrow’s Technology

Chances are that someone you know or love will be diagnosed with lung cancer. Help us improve the lives of future Albertans diagnosed with lung cancer.

Focused Funding, Focused Results

Financial contributions from our donors have made a significant difference to our work in lung cancer research here in Calgary and the province of Alberta. Future funding will increase the power of our research platform significantly and will lead to a very specialized and successful lung cancer research team.

Canada’s leading cancer killer is ready for a breakthrough.

Lung cancer continues to kill more patients each year than breast cancer, colon cancer, and prostate cancer combined. 72 people are diagnosed daily with lung cancer – of those individuals, 56 will lose their lives to the disease. Our mission is to foster lung cancer research in pursuit of new discoveries through the development of a comprehensive lung cancer repository.

The Real Shame of Lung Cancer:
Canada’s leading cancer killer is also one of the least funded.

Lung cancer patients are often stigmatized and feel shame brought on by an uneducated and non-empathetic audience. While it is assumed all lung cancer victims have been smokers, a startling 20% have not. The ‘never-smoked’ patient is a growing percentage.

Regardless of their smoking status, 100% of lung cancer patients are entitled to a second breath at life. The only shame in lung cancer is how this stigma has directly led to how underfunded lung cancer research is. This is particularly obvious when compared to other cancer research programs. Lung cancer kills nearly all patients it affects and the research of this cancer is vital in order to treat it more effectively.

The Glans-Look Lung Cancer Research program was established in 2006, and has since enabled researchers to study patients with lung cancer with the goal of improving the quality of the care they receive.
